The opposition

St Johnstone currently sit sixth in SWPL 2, with 14 points - three places and 21 points behind Boroughmuir after 18 games. They’ve picked up just four wins and two draws so far this season, however one of those points came against Thistle back in December.

After an impressive run of three wins on the spin, the Saints have since lost their last two league games against higher-placed opposition - 2-1 against Livingston and 3-2 to Kilmarnock.

Away from home, St Johnstone have picked up just seven league points all season (2W, 1D). However, they defeated Ayr United 3-2 in their last trip away from the Riverside Stadium so Thistle will know they’re in for a difficult afternoon.

A key St Johnstone player to look out for is Olivia Hurrell. The 18-year-old midfielder currently sits joint-second in the SWPL 2 top goalscorer rankings with 10 goals so far this season, including bagging one against Kilmarnock last week.

Previous meetings

Sunday will mark the third time the two sides have met so far this season after league encounters in September and December. Boroughmuir ran out 5-1 victors at Meadowbank in September thanks to goals from Leni Parrish, Cara Borthwick, Cailin Michie, Robin Gallagher, and an own goal. However, St Johnstone managed to stifle Thistle at the Riverside Stadium just before the winter break as the game of few chances finished goalless.

In terms of the overall head-to-head record, there have been 20 matches played since 2014 and Boroughmuir have won 9 of those. St Johnstone have managed five wins in that time and there have also been six draws. There have been 63 goals across the 20 matches - an average of 3.15 per game - so we will hopefully not be short of entertainment on Sunday afternoon.
