Team news
After being named in the SWPL Team of the Week for the second time this season, midfielder Cailin Michie is looking to continue her fine form into Sunday’s match and help Thistle progress in the League Cup.
Ava Chalmers - who made her senior debut last Sunday against St Johnstone - will be hopeful of gaining more minutes in this one as she continues her progression with the Thistle first team.
The opposition
On their way to the second round, Livingston defeated Ayr United away from home by seven goals to three in a 10-goal first round thriller.
They currently sit in fourth, one place below Boroughmuir on goal difference in SWPL 2, and come into this one immediately off the back of a 6-3 defeat by Kilmarnock at Rugby Park last weekend.
Previous meetings
Livingston ran out 2-0 winners at Almondvale when the sides met on Matchday Two, and did well to limit Thistle to very few chances on the day.
However, in four meetings last season, one Boroughmuir win and three draws proved that there is very little to separate the two teams who were neck-and-neck in the table right until the final game.
Last season’s second round
At this stage of last season’s Sky Sports Cup, Boroughmuir ran out 4-3 victors over Queen’s Park at Meggetland; an impressive feat given the Spiders’ league exploits and ultimate promotion to SWPL 1.
Maria Novoa-Torrente put Thistle 1-0 up inside 30 minutes before Abby Callaghan hit back for the away side just into the second half. Goals by Fiona Gibson and Beth Macleod put Thistle 3-1 up and in a seemingly comfortable position until Caitlin McKee and another Callaghan goal levelled at 3-3.
However, Thistle kept at it and eventually found a winner courtesy of Mhari Smith’s 89th minute strike to send Thistle into the quarter finals.
