Following last weekend’s Sky Sports Cup exit, Boroughmuir Thistle return to league action on Sunday afternoon when Kilmarnock make the trip to the capital.
Two 1-0 victories in their last two league games and a solid performance against SWPL 1 side Aberdeen last weekend signifies a change in Thistle’s fortunes following a disappointing prior run of form.
Andy Enwood’s side are looking for their sixth win of the season as they aim to close the gap with Livingston who sit one place above.

Team news
Emily Arthur returned to the Boroughmuir starting line-up last weekend and made an almost-instant impact when she netted a fantastic goal inside the opening six minutes. The striker will be looking to build on a strong performance against tough opposition by retaining her place in the team when Kilmarnock come calling.
Cailin Michie was named in the SWPL Team of the Week on Wednesday for her performances against Ayr United and Aberdeen - the third time she has received such an accolade so far this season. The league body confirmed that 58% of Michie’s ‘match actions’ in both games were successful, highlighting the importance of the midfielder to Boroughmuir’s play.
The opposition
Kilmarnock currently sit in second place in SWPL 2, four points and two positions above Boroughmuir. The Ayrshire club are, though, eight points behind league leaders Hamilton.
Of their 10 league games so far this season, Killie have enjoyed six wins, settled for two draws, and been on the receiving end of two losses. Their most recent outing ended in a 4-0 defeat to Hamilton at Rugby Park just under two weeks ago.
Key Kilmarnock players to watch out for include Cara Gray and Abby Robinson. Gray currently sits joint-second in the SWPL 2 top goalscorer standings with seven goals thus far, and captain Robinson was recently awarded the SWPL 2 Player of the Month award following stellar performances throughout October.
Previous meetings
Boroughmuir Thistle and Kilmarnock have already met this season, with a closely-fought goalless draw playing out at Rugby Park back in September.
In terms of the overall head-to-head across the two sides’ 23 encounters, Killie slightly edge it with 10 wins to Boroughmuir’s nine, and there have been four draws.
In four matches last season, Kilmarnock won twice at Rugby Park either side of Thistle’s 2-1 victory at Meadowbank, and a goalless draw between the sides rounded off the season on the final day.
