Boroughmuir Thistle return to action on Sunday afternoon as they welcome Gartcairn to Meadowbank Stadium following the SWPL 2 winter break.
Marking the first match since our goalless draw with St Johnstone three weeks ago, Thistle come into this one eager to get 2025 off to a solid start.
Undefeated in the league since mid-October, Boroughmuir know they must maintain their good form as they aim to keep up with Kilmarnock and Hamilton above them.

Inclement weather
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow which covers much of Scotland between midnight on Sunday morning and midday on Monday afternoon. Local forecasts around Meadowbank are also looking pretty grim ahead of Sunday.
As such, we would encourage supporters to take care when travelling to the stadium and to keep across Boroughmuir Thistle’s social media channels for any potential updates regarding the game.
The opposition
Gartcairn currently occupy fifth place in SWPL 2, two spots and four points below Boroughmuir in third. The Airdrie-based side have picked up 19 points from their 13 matches so far this term, with six wins, six losses, and one draw.
Last time out before the winter break, Gartcairn ran league leaders Hamilton very close at MTC Park before narrowly losing out 3-2. Thistle therefore know they’re in for a tough match despite the discrepancy in league position.
Previous meetings
Boroughmuir and Gartcairn have already met once this season, with Gartcairn running out victors at MTC Park back in October. The hosts came from 2-1 down to cancel out second half goals by Maria Novoa-Torrente and Cailin Michie to emerge 3-2 winners.
In terms of the overall head-to-head, Boroughmuir Thistle narrowly edge it four wins compared to Gartcairn’s three. There have also been three draws across the ten meetings.
In the first two meetings of the sides last season, Boroughmuir ran out 7-0 victors on both occasions. Gartcairn then left Meadowbank with a 3-1 victory in February before the fourth and final meeting in April ended in a 1-1 draw at MTC Park.
