Team news

Emily Reid will be hopeful of more minutes in this one after making her senior debut in astonishing fashion last weekend. Reid came on in the 67th minute against Livingston and bagged a 20-minute hat-trick as Boroughmuir ran out 8-0 victors at Meadowbank.

Elsewhere in Thistle’s forward line, Cara Borthwick has recently been nominated as a candidate to win the SWPL 2 Player of the Month for September! The right-sided attacker enjoyed a stellar month in purple as she notched four goals, picked up two fans’ Player of the Match awards, and was named in the SWPL Team of the Week earlier this week.

The opposition

The hosts currently sit two places and three points behind Boroughmuir in fifth place after six games in SWPL 2.

Gartcairn have posted a mixed set of results so far this season with three league losses, two wins, and a draw. Most recently they suffered a 2-0 away defeat at the hands of league leaders Hamilton WFC on Sunday 22nd September.

They also enjoyed emphatic Sky Sports Cup First Round success when they defeated St Johnstone by seven goals to nil, however were knocked out in last weekend’s Second Round by Thistle’s Quarter Final opponents, Aberdeen.

Previous meetings

Boroughmuir Thistle edge the overall head-to-head between the two sides, with four wins compared to Gartcairn’s two. There have also been three draws across the nine meetings.

In the first two meetings of the sides last season, Boroughmuir ran out 7-0 victors on both occasions. Gartcairn then left Meadowbank with a 3-1 victory in February before the fourth and final meeting in April ended in a 1-1 draw at MTC Park.
