Boroughmuir return to action tomorrow afternoon with a trip to face SWPL 1 side Dundee United in the Fourth Round of the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup.
Heading into the second match of a busy period in which they’ll play four games in 12 days, Andy Enwood’s side come into this one with renewed confidence following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Livingston on Wednesday night.
United, on the other hand, are enduring a difficult run of league form so will be keen to avoid any cup ‘upset’ at Foundation Park.

The opposition
Our upper-division hosts currently sit rock bottom of SWPL 1 in 12th place after picking up just four points all season. The Tangerines have also shipped 102 goals in 19 league matches so Thistle’s pacy forward line will be looking to exploit a defence perhaps short of confidence.
In their last outing, United were defeated 4-1 at the hands of Partick Thistle at Petershill Park - their fourth loss by at least three goals on the spin.
To get to this stage of the Scottish Cup, United edged past SWF Championship side Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1-0 in the third round.
Key United players include goalkeeper Beth Mowatt who - despite having conceded the most goals in SWPL 1 - has made the second most number of saves (80) in the division. Her strong individual performances means she averages a 7.27 statistical rating - the third best of any goalkeeper in the league - and keeps ex-Boroughmuir shot stopper Beth Rennie largely out of the team.
At the other end of the pitch, Morgan Steedman and Freya Brien both have four goals to their names so far this league season, so the Thistle backline will be wary of allowing the forwards too much time and space.
Previous meetings
Sunday will mark the 12th time that the two sides have met since 2008, and the first since April 2022.
Boroughmuir ran out 4-1 victors at Meggetland that day, but are worse off in the overall head-to-head statistics. Dundee United have won eight of the last 11 meetings, while Thistle have registered just three victories in that period.
A total of 43 goals have been scored over the sides’ previous meetings, so there will hopefully be no shortage of goalmouth action on Sunday afternoon.
