Team news

A number of new recruits have joined Boroughmuir Thistle during pre-season and they’ll be eager to impress if called upon in this opening match.

This includes two Ria McCafferty and Emily Arthur who have re-joined the squad on a permanent basis following successful loan spells last term.

Club Captain

Following the departure of Iris Ramage, Boroughmuir announced earlier today that Louise Mason will assume duties as Club Captain.

The experienced midfielder joined the club in the summer from Spartans Women and holds the record for the most appearances in a Spartans shirt.

Mason has already represented Boroughmuir earlier this week at the SWPL Launch Event at Scottish Power HQ.

The opposition

Ayr United won promotion from the SWF Championship to SWPL 2 following victory over Glasgow Women in a seven-goal thriller play-off tie last season.

They will be looking to get off to a good start in the second tier as they make the journey up to Meadowbank and, like Boroughmuir, have strengthened their squad with a number of new signings eager to hit the ground running.
