Player departures | Head Coach's update

Andy Enwood has this evening issued a squad update ahead of the 2025/26 season getting underway.

The Boroughmuir Thistle Head Coach commented on a number of players who will be departing the club this summer, paying tribute to their efforts whilst playing in purple.

You can find Andy’s full update below…

We have a number of players moving on from the Club ahead of season 2025/26. All of these players will always be welcome back at the Club and we wish them well for the future.

Toni Harkness

Toni signed for Boroughmuir at the beginning of season 2023/24 and has contributed hugely to the Club's undoubted progress over the last 2 years. Originally an outfield player, Toni converted to a GK and as well as producing a number of excellent performances on the pitch has also been an excellent mentor for our young GKs. We wish Toni well as she sets out on her coaching career.

Sydney Hinchcliffe

A committed and loyal player, Sydney will be leaving Boroughmuir. Sydney has performed a number of roles over her time at the Club highlighting her selfless approach and willingness to put the team first.

Alix Wilkinson

Alix re-signed for Boroughmuir at the beginning of season 2023/24 after a successful season with FC Edinburgh. Unfortunately for the ex-Club Captain, a long standing injury robbed her of the opportunity to get minutes on the pitch and it is with great regret and frustration that she will be moving on from the Club.

Cara Borthwick

Cara is a product of the Boroughmuir youth system and has spent the last two seasons in the First Team making a considerable contribution to the Club's progress and improvement. We wish Cara well in her move to California where she has been offered a Scholarship at the University of Berkley.

Athina Varnava

Athina has been forced to retire from football on medical advice due to injury. In her short time on the pitch, Athina proved she had the tenacity and winning mentality to assist with Boroughmuir's progress. A new sport is on the horizon for Athina.

Maria Novoa-Torrente

Maria joined Boroughmuir in 2019 and has been an outstanding player and person throughout her five years. Maria's work ethic, which was second to none, in both training and games was an example for all to follow and one we will sorely miss.

Molly-Orr Love

Molly is moving on from Boroughmuir after four seasons with the Club. An Edinburgh University student, Molly has put the ball in the back of the net a number of times over the years and helped the Club progress to where we are today. We wish Molly well for the future and congratulate her in achieving a First in her academic studies.

Annalies Verbist

Another Edinburgh University student, Annalies spent three seasons with Boroughmuir. In her time with the Club, Annalies has had to overcome a number of injury issues and for season 2024/25 this meant we couldn't benefit from her undoubted qualities, in particular her calmness on the ball.
