Boroughmuir Thistle’s ScottishPower Women’s Premier League 2 fixtures have this morning been released ahead of season 2025/26!
We will kick off the season on 17th August with a trip to face Livingston at Almondvale, before welcoming Kilmarnock to Meadowbank Stadium the following Sunday.
Two successive away league ties then follow - firstly against Gartcairn on 31st August before the first ‘Edinburgh Derby’ of the season against Spartans at Ainslie Park on 14th September.
The second meeting with our Edinburgh neighbours is on 23rd November when Spartans visit Meadowbank.
Following recent league expansion to 10 teams, we will this season face a total of five ‘new’ sides - Spartans, Dundee United, Queen’s Park, East Fife, and University of Stirling - which adds to the excitement ahead of the new season.
As well as two extra teams, a split will be introduced to the SPWPL 2 this season. Following our initial 18 matches, the league will separate into a Top 6 and Bottom 4. Teams in the Top 6 will then play an additional 10 matches (the five other teams home and away), whilst teams in the Bottom 4 will face an additional six matches (the three other teams home and away).
First place in SPWPL 2 come the end of the season will be automatically promoted, whilst those finishing 2nd - 4th will take part in an extended Promotion Play-off system with the 9th placed team in SPWPL 1. The automatic relegation and play-off spots between SPWPL 2 and the SWF Championship remain unchanged.
